Pita is a double layered flat bread made of flour and yeast. When cut in half the two layers create a kind of "pocket". This feature of the pita bread makes it perfect for preparing sandwiches as we can see it many street food restaurants selling falafel or gyros all over the world.

Originally pita was the traditional food of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries but today one can get it practically anywhere. For the sake of health conscious customers we sell a brown flour based pita too beside the traditional one. Our pitas are deep-frozen products free from preservatives and artificial additives.

The pocket of pita has a pretty simple explanation. The key to the secret is that pita is baked at higher temperatures than traditional bread.

The hand flattened rounds of dough are placed into an oven heated to 450°C. The high temperature seals fast the edges of the pita while the steam generated inside blows up the dough like a ball. When the ready pitas are taken out from the oven they flatten out again and remain two-layered.
